5 Months

Jackson went to the doctor yesterday. He has a goopy eye and I just wanted to be sure it wasn't anything more than his blocked tear duct. It wasn't. But while he was there, they measured and weighed him. They had him clocking in at 16lbs and 27". For the record, at his 4 month check up, he was 14lbs 4ozs and 25". Today, on his 5 month birthday, we decided maybe he'd finally be measurable on his adorable growth chart. I mean, if the chart starts at 24" and he's 27", it should be a no-brainer. Clearly, from this picture, you can see he is no 27". Way to go nurse at the doctor's office. FAIL. (And yes, he's still in his pajamas. It's a snowy Saturday and we don't have anywhere to be. Don't judge.)

As you may know, today is the first day of spring. Apparently Mother Nature didn't get the message, as it has been snowing since 11pm last night. We have about 6" on the ground so far. I had to let the dogs out, so I decided to take Jackson out in the snow too. It was his first experience with the fluffy stuff. Jackson was not impressed, but he did think it was funny when the snowflakes landed in his eye lashes. Plus, it gave him a good excuse to wear his winter coat.... that he never gets to wear.

5 months old. I knew it would fit eventually.

And as far as it goes developmentally, he's sitting up on his own pretty well now. He still hasn't rolled over again since he did it about a month ago. And he's enjoying his rice cereal, although it's making him pretty gassy. He's laughing more and more and has certainly started showing his independence and personality. He wants to help hold his bottle even though he tends to take it out of his mouth more than put it in. He's a helper! He's such a good, cute guy. We're still pretty smitten.
